ACCESS TO ESCORCA
How to get there?
The Ma-10 road runs through the Serra de Tramuntana from Pollença to Andratx. Inaugurated on July 23, 1961, this road is the most touristic and attractive on the island, offering an exceptional viewpoint and crossing landscapes declared World Heritage by UNESCO. A privileged route to do by car, motorbike or bicycle.
You can also access it by public transport using the lines that serve the municipality, the 231 Sóller – Alcúdia and the 312 Lluc – Inca , in addition to having a taxi service. Another option is the maritime access to Sa Calobra, an essential excursion to enjoy the impressive landscapes of the coast. From the Port of Sóller, you can take boats that make the journey to Cala Tuent and the Port of Sa Calobra .

HEART OF THE SERRA DE TRAMUNTANA
Immerse yourself in our culture and traditions
The Serra de Tramuntana is a World Heritage Site, protected by a UNESCO plan since 1972. This recognition implies the responsibility to preserve and transmit this cultural and natural heritage to future generations.
The Serra de Tramuntana Nature Reserve Interpretation Center welcomes visitors in Lluc, next to the Sanctuary car park. In addition, the Sanctuary has a museum and a botanical garden. In the public estates of Menut and Binifaldó there is the Forestry Center and the Center for Environmental Education.
The Serra de Tramuntana is home to numerous religious buildings and spaces that reflect the connection between the territory and faith, such as churches, monasteries, oratories and terme crosses. In Escorca, there are elements declared Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC), such as the crossroads of Menut, S’Amitger and Pujol dels Misteris, and the Church of Sant Pere d’Escorca.
Man’s relationship with forests has changed from economic exploitation to recreational use. Forests perform essential environmental functions such as carbon sequestration, air quality improvement, water regulation, soil protection and biodiversity conservation.
The snow houses, dug into the ground, stored snow to preserve it until summer. This activity, important in Mallorca from the 16th century to the beginning of the 20th, produced ice for therapeutic and gastronomic uses. Twenty of these houses are preserved in Escorca.
The Museum of Lluc, located in the Monastery of Lluc, in the Serra de Tramuntana, houses a collection of religious art, historical and ethnological objects that reflect Mallorcan culture. Exhibits include liturgical vestments, traditional ceramics, sculptures and paintings, as well as relics and documents related to devotion to Our Lady of Lluc.
The concert at Torrent de Pareis is one of the most celebrated musical events of the Majorcan summer. In addition, the Santuari de Lluc hosts the Escolania dels Blauets, a choir of children who sing daily and take part in special celebrations.
The Serra de Tramuntana, inhabited since 5000 BC, is home to numerous archaeological sites. In Escorca, the site of Almallutx and the Cometa dels Morts Cave stand out.
Escorca has been a filming location for film and television, thanks to its landscapes and climatic conditions. Movies like “Cloud Atlas” and “The 7th Voyage of Sinbad” have used these natural settings.
The Escolania dels Blauets, with roots in the 13th century, is one of the main attractions of the Santuari de Lluc. This choir of boys and girls sings daily and at special celebrations. More information at Escolania de Lluc .
